RSNA2011 ■「Celebrate the Image」をテーマにRSNA 2011が開幕

RSNA2011 [第1日目：11月27日（日）]

　 2011年11月27日（日），雨模様のシカゴでRSNA 2011（第97回北米放射線学会）が開幕した。会場となるマコーミックプレイスには，米国はもとより，世界約140か国から，約6万人が参加する。大会長は，The Mount Sinai HospitalのPROFESSOR & CHAIR RadiologyであるBurton P. Drayer, M.D.が務める。

　 初日である27日には，午前8時30分から，Lakeside CenterのArie Crown Theaterにおいて，Opening Sessionが行われた。

　 AAPMのJ. Anthony Seibert, Ph.D.，Chicago Radiological SocietyのJennifer Eden Lim-Dunham, M.D.のスピーチに続き表彰が行われ，その後，Burton大会長によるPresident's Addressとなった。テーマは，「Celebrate the Image: How We Changed the Face of Health Care」。Burton大会長は，放射線医学の歴史とともに，イノベーションによりモダリティが作り出す画像が進化してきたことを振り返った上で，放射線医学の7つの「A」として，Available（Affable），Able，Add Value，Accountable，Aspirational，Amenableを挙げた。また，Burton大会長は10年後の2021年における放射線医学と放射線科医について触れ，Biomed ResearchやHybrid Imaging，革新的な技術としてBiomarker，Image Guided Interventions，CADやポータブル化などの進歩を説明した。

　 President's Addressに引き続き，Opening Session Panel—Multimodality Imaging of Atherosclerosisが行われた。Matthew A. Mauro, M.D.の司会で，まずGeoffrey D. Rubin, M.D.が，“CT Angiography: 20 Years Old and All Grown Up”と題して講演。その後，Zahi Adel Fayad, Ph.D.が，“Bleeding Edge Imaging and Therapy in Vascular Disease”をテーマに登壇した。
